I have been slowly teaching my toddler letter sounds. I spend about a week or two on each letter to ensure that she really knows it. She is 2, so there's no reason to rush through it. We started with the letters S A T P I N.

I have created a free resource that you can use. It includes coloring pages for each letter, blank letter pages if you would like to do a craft for the letter, and a sticker activity.

I'll walk you through each of the crafts I did.

For the letter S, we made a sun. First, we used a coffee filter and colored it using washable markers. Next, we added drops of water to create this tie-dye effect. Last, we glued on pieces of string to create the sun's rays.

For A, we made apples by cutting out circles from red and yellow paper. Then added a raffia stem and a leaf cutout green paper. Very simple.

For T, we created a Turkey. I cut out the main body part. To create the feathers, we collected leaves and glued them in a semicircle shape. Finally, we glued the body on top of the leaves.

For P, we made a pear. We filled in the pear shape with glue and then sprinkled dried split peas on top.

For I, we created an iguana. I cut out the head, body, tail, and feet on green paper. Then my toddler assembled it together.

For N, we created a nest using string and raffia. You can substitute the raffia for brown construction paper. I cut up different lengths of string and raffia and let my toddler glue the pieces in the nest. This is optional, but I drew a bird to add to the nest.

The last pages in this freebie are a sticker matching activity. Print the stickers on sticker paper then cut them out. Alternatively, print stickers on regular paper and simply use glue to adhere them.

Your child can put the sticker in the box next to the letter that makes its beginning sound. I presented 3 stickers at a time so that my child was not overwhelmed with too many choices.

Overall, this activity was a success! My baby girl learned a lot and had lots of fun! I hope you enjoy this too. Click the link below to download for FREE.
